Related Product Information for anti-BIRC5 antibody
Apoptosis is related to many diseases and is triggered by a variety of stimuli including members of the TNF family. Apoptosis can be prevented by the inhibitor of apoptosis proteins (IAPs). IAPs constitute a conserved gene family that binds to and inhibits cell death proteases. A novel IAP has been identified and designated survivin. Survivin interacts with the processed form of caspase-3 and inhibits its proteolytic activity. Survivin is expressed predominantly in tissues of embryos, transformed cell lines, and many human cancers.

Uniprot Description

Function: Component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC), a complex that acts as a key regulator of mitosis. The CPC complex has essential functions at the centromere in ensuring correct chromosome alignment and segregation and is required for chromatin-induced microtubule stabilization and spindle assembly. The complex with RAN plays a role in mitotic spindle formation by serving as a physical scaffold to help deliver the RAN effector molecule TPX2 to microtubules. May play a role in neoplasia. May counteract a default induction of apoptosis in G2/M phase. Inhibitor of caspase-3 and caspase-7

Subunit structure: Monomer or homodimer. Exist as a homodimer in the apo state and as a monomer in the CPC-bound state

By similarity. When phosphorylated, interacts with HBXIP; the resulting complex binds pro-caspase-9, as well as active caspase-9, but much less efficiently. Component of the CPC at least composed of BIRC5/survivin, CDCA8/borealin, INCENP and AURKB/Aurora-B. Interacts with JTB. Interacts with CDCA8 and INCENP; interaction is direct. Interacts with EVI5. Interacts with GTP-bound RAN in both the S and M phases of the cell cycle. Interacts with USP9X. Interacts with tubulin

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm

By similarity. Nucleus

By similarity. Chromosome › centromere

By similarity. Cytoplasm › cytoskeleton › spindle

By similarity. Note: Localizes on chromosome arms and inner centromeres from prophase through metaphase and then transferring to the spindle midzone and midbody from anaphase through cytokinesis. Colocalizes with AURKB at mitotic chromosomes

By similarity. UniProtKB O15392

Domain: The BIR repeat is necessary and sufficient for HBXIP binding

Post-translational modification: Ubiquitination is required for centrosomal targeting

By similarity. In vitro phosphorylation at Thr-117 by AURKB/STK12 prevents interaction with INCENP and localization to mitotic chromosomes

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the IAP family.Contains 1 BIR repeat.

Product Notes

The BIRC5 birc5 (Catalog #AAA194145) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Survivin (NT) can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoblot. Immunoblotting: use at 1:500-1:1,000 dilution. Positive control: MOLT4 cells. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the BIRC5 birc5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Survivin (NT), Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
