Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate PRLR in samples. An antibody specific for PRLR has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyPRLR present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for PRLR is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of PRLR bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a receptor for the anterior pituitary hormone, prolactin, and belongs to the type I cytokine receptor family. Prolactin-dependent signaling occurs as the result of ligand-induced dimerization of the prolactin receptor. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different membrane-bound and soluble isoforms have been described for this gene, which may function to modulate the endocrine and autocrine effects of prolactin in normal tissue and cancer. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011]

Uniprot Description

PRLR: receptor for the anterior pituitary hormone prolactin and placental lactogen I and II. Interacts with Cyclophilin A, differentially regulating various signaling pathways from the PrlR. Prolactin signaling is attenuated by threonine and tyrosine phosphorylation. Two alternative splice isoforms have been identified.

Product Notes

The Pigeon PRLR prlr (Catalog #AAA282457) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA282457 ELISA Kit recognizes Pigeon PRLR. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Prolactin receptor, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
