Intended Uses: This sandwich kit is for the accurate quantitative detection of Porcine Cytosolic Phospholipase A2 (also known as CPLA2) in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, cell lysates, tissue homogenates.

Principles of the Assay: This kit is an Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The plate has been pre-coated with Porcine CPLA2 antibody. CPLA2 present in the sample is added and binds to antibodies coated on the wells. And then biotinylated Porcine CPLA2 Antibody is added and binds to CPLA2 in the sample. Then Streptavidin-HRP is added and binds to the Biotinylated CPLA2 antibody. After incubation unbound Streptavidin-HRP is washed away during a washing step. Substrate solution is then added and color develops in proportion to the amount of Porcine CPLA2. The reaction is terminated by addition of acidic stop solution and absorbance is measured at 450 nm.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the cytosolic phospholipase A2 group IV family. The enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of membrane phospholipids to release arachidonic acid which is subsequently metabolized into eicosanoids. Eicosanoids, including prostaglandins and leukotrienes, are lipid-based cellular hormones that regulate hemodynamics, inflammatory responses, and other intracellular pathways. The hydrolysis reaction also produces lysophospholipids that are converted into platelet-activating factor. The enzyme is activated by increased intracellular Ca(2+) levels and phosphorylation, resulting in its translocation from the cytosol and nucleus to perinuclear membrane vesicles. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]

Uniprot Description

Selectively hydrolyzes arachidonyl phospholipids in the sn-2 position releasing arachidonic acid. Together with its lysophospholipid activity, it is implicated in the initiation of the inflammatory response.

Product Notes

The Porcine cPLA2 pla2g4a (Catalog #AAA160054) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The AAA160054 ELISA Kit recognizes Porcine cPLA2. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "cytosolic phospholipase A2, cPLA2, ELISA Kit" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
