Related Product Information for anti-GLI1 antibody
Zinc Finger Protein GLI1 is a member of the Kruppel family of zinc finger proteins. It is thought that it may regulate the transcription of specific genes during normal development and may play a role in craniofacial development and digital development. It also may be involved in the development of the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. This protein mediates SHH signaling and thus cell proliferation and differentiation. It has been localized to the cytoplasm and nucleus. It is tethered in the cytoplasm by binding to SUFU and activation and translocalization to the nucleus is promoted by interation with STK36. Protein expression is amplified in glioblastoma cells. Defects in the GLI1 protein may be a cause of breast cancer.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the Kruppel family of zinc finger proteins. The encoded transcription factor is activated by the sonic hedgehog signal transduction cascade and regulates stem cell proliferation. The activity and nuclear localization of this protein is negatively regulated by p53 in an inhibitory loop. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2009]

Uniprot Description

Function: Acts as a transcriptional activator. May regulate the transcription of specific genes during normal development. May play a role in craniofacial development and digital development, as well as development of the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Mediates SHH signaling and thus cell proliferation and differentiation. Ref.6 Ref.7

Subunit structure: Interacts with KIF7

By similarity. Interacts with ZIC1; the interaction enhances transcription activation. Ref.6 Ref.7

Subcellular location: Cytoplasm. Nucleus. Note: Tethered in the cytoplasm by binding to SUFU. Activation and translocation to the nucleus is promoted by interaction with STK36. Phosphorylation by ULK3 may promote nuclear localization. Translocation to the nucleus is promoted by interaction with ZIC1. Ref.6 Ref.7 Ref.8

Tissue specificity: Testis, myometrium and fallopian tube. Also expressed in the brain with highest expression in the cerebellum, optic nerve and olfactory tract. Ref.8

Induction: Amplified in glioblastoma cells.

Post-translational modification: Phosphorylated in vitro by ULK3. Ref.8Acetylation at Lys-518 down-regulates transcriptional activity. Deacetylated by HDAC1.

Sequence similarities: Belongs to the GLI C2H2-type zinc-finger protein family.Contains 5 C2H2-type zinc fingers.

Product Notes

The GLI1 gli1 (Catalog #AAA396062) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Zinc Finger Protein GLI1 reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Zinc Finger Protein GLI1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the GLI1 gli1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Zinc Finger Protein GLI1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
