NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene is expressed ubiquitously with higher levels in fetal than in adult tissues. It encodes a protein sharing 93% sequence identity with the mouse protein. Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS) is a malformation syndrome associated with a hemizygous deletion of the distal short arm of chromosome 4. This gene is mapped to the 165 kb WHS critical region, and may play a role in the phenotype of the WHS or Pitt-Rogers-Danks syndrome. The encoded protein is found to be capable of reacting with HLA-A2-restricted and tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes, suggesting a target for use in specific immunotherapy for a large number of cancer patients. This protein has also been shown to be a member of the NELF (negative elongation factor) protein complex that participates in the regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription elongation. Uniprot Description
WHSC2: Essential component of the NELF complex, a complex that negatively regulates the elongation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. The NELF complex, which acts via an association with the DSIF complex and causes transcriptional pausing, is counteracted by the P-TEFb kinase complex. Probably required to interact with the RNA polymerase II complex. Belongs to the NELF-A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4p16.3
Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm
Molecular Function: protein binding; chromatin binding
Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; viral reproduction; positive regulation of viral transcription; multicellular organismal development; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter; gene expression

Please decide the specificity by homology. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome candidate 2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). ELISA: Use at an assay dependent dilution. WB: 1:500-1:5000 IF: 1:10-1:100 (Recommender dilutions) Positive WB detected in: HeLa cells, Jurkat cells, mouse brain tissue, mouse liver tissue Positive IF detected in: HeLa cells. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NELFA nelfa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome candidate 2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
