Related Product Information for NELFA recombinant protein
The gene encoding this protein is expressed ubiquitously with higher levels in fetal than in adult tissues. It encodes a protein sharing 93% sequence identity with the mouse protein. Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS) is a malformation syndrome associated with a hemizygous deletion of the distal short arm of chromosome 4. The gene encoding this protein is mapped to the 165kb WHS critical region, and may play a role in the phenotype of the WHS or Pitt-Rogers-Danks syndrome. This protein is found to be capable of reacting with HLA-A2-restricted and tumor-specific cytotoxic T lymphocytes, suggesting a target for use in specific immunotherapy for a large number of cancer patients. This protein has also been shown to be a member of the NELF (negative elongation factor) protein complex that participates in the regulation of RNA polymerase II transcription elongation.

NCBI Description

Uniprot Description

WHSC2: Essential component of the NELF complex, a complex that negatively regulates the elongation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. The NELF complex, which acts via an association with the DSIF complex and causes transcriptional pausing, is counteracted by the P-TEFb kinase complex. Probably required to interact with the RNA polymerase II complex. Belongs to the NELF-A family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Transcription, coactivator/corepressor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4p16.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm

Molecular Function: protein binding; chromatin binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; viral reproduction; positive regulation of viral transcription; multicellular organismal development; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter; gene expression

Product Notes

The NELFA nelfa (Catalog #AAA636021) is a Recombinant Protein produced from E Coli and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome Candidate 2 Protein can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA). Suitable for use in ELISA as an Antigen, Ligand, or Assay Standard. Tested in MassSspectrometry. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NELFA nelfa for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome Candidate 2 Protein, Recombinant Protein" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
