NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that plays an important role in the organization of the actin cytoskeleton. The encoded protein binds to a region of Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein that is frequently mutated in Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, an X-linked recessive disorder. Impairment of the interaction between these two proteins may contribute to the disease. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

WIPF1: a cytoskeleton-associated protein that interacts with the Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein (WASP) in resting cells. Plays an important role in the organization of the actin cytoskeleton. Phosphorylation by PKC-theta following T cell receptor signaling disengages it from WASP, releasing WASP from WIP inhibition. Binds to a region of WASP that is frequently mutated in Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Actin-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2q31.1

Cellular Component: actin cytoskeleton; actin filament; cytoplasmic membrane-bound vesicle; cytosol; ruffle

Molecular Function: actin binding; actin filament binding; profilin binding; protein binding

Biological Process: actin cortical patch assembly; actin cortical patch localization; actin filament-based movement; actin polymerization and/or depolymerization; endocytosis; positive regulation of actin nucleation; protein complex assembly; regulation of cell shape; response to other organism

Disease: Wiskott-aldrich Syndrome 2

Product Notes

The WIPF1 wipf1 (Catalog #AAA421377) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-WIPF1 Antibody reacts with Tested: Human; Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's WIPF1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 64000. Western Blot: Approx.55kDa band observed in Human Lymph Node, Spleen and Tonsil lysates (calculated MW of 51.3kDa according to NP_003378.3 and NP_001070737.1). In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing WIPF1 a band of approx.55kDa is observed. This band is not observed in the non-transfected HEK293. Recommended concentration: 0. 03-0.1ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the WIPF1 wipf1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: KLARNESRSG SNRRE. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "WIPF1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
