Background: Nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAmPRTase or Nampt), also known as pre-B-cell colony-enhancing factor 1 (PBEF1) or visfatin, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PBEF1 gene. This gene encodes a protein that catalyzes the condensation of nicotinamide with 5-phosphoribosyl-1-pyrophosphate to yield nicotinamide mononucleotide, one step in the biosynthesis of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. The protein belongs to the nicotinic acid phosphoribosyltransferase (NAPRTase) family and is thought to be involved in many important biological processes, including metabolism, stress response and aging. This gene has a pseudogene on chromosome 10.

Uniprot Description
PBEF: an ubiquitous protein originally described as a cytokine which acts on early B-lineage precursor cells. Other reports indicate that PBEF is not a cytokine-like secreted protein but an intracellular protein associated with the cell cycle. Contains a catalytically active nicotinate phosphoribosyltransferase domain, an enzyme involved in nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) biosynthesis.
Protein type: Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - nicotinate and nicotinamide; Cytokine; Transferase; Cell cycle regulation; EC 2.4.2.12
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q22.3
Cellular Component: cell junction; cytosol; nucleoplasm
Molecular Function: nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase activity; protein binding
Biological Process: cell-cell signaling; circadian regulation of gene expression; circadian rhythm; insulin receptor signaling pathway; nicotinamide metabolic process; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of nitric-oxide synthase biosynthetic process; positive regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; signal transduction

The NAMPT nampt (Catalog #AAA178509) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Visfatin Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat No cross reactivity with other proteins. and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Visfatin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western Blot: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Mouse, Rat Immunohistochemisry Paraffin: 0.5-1mug/ml; Tested Species: Human, Mouse, Rat ELISA: 0.1-0.5mug/ml; Tested Species: Human Tested Species:In-house tested species with positive results. By Heat: Boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH6.0, for 20mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections. Other applications have not been tested. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the NAMPT nampt for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Visfatin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
