Store product at 4 degree C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable at -20 degree C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of neuron-specific calcium-binding proteins family found in the retina and brain. It is highly similar to human hippocalcin protein and nearly identical to the rat and mouse hippocalcin like-1 proteins. It may be involved in the calcium-dependent regulation of rhodopsin phosphorylation and may be of relevance for neuronal signalling in the central nervous system. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2012]

Uniprot Description

HPCAL1: May be involved in the calcium-dependent regulation of rhodopsin phosphorylation. Belongs to the recoverin family.

Protein type: Calcium-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p25.1

Molecular Function: protein binding; calcium ion binding

Biological Process: signal transduction

Product Notes

The VILIP3 hpcal1 (Catalog #AAA6505853) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The VILIP3, NT (Visinin-like Protein 3, Calcium-binding Protein BDR-1, HLP2, Hippocalcin-like Protein 1, HPCAL1, BDR1) (Azide free) (HRP) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VILIP3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). IHC: 1:50-1:100 ELISA: 1:1,000 WB: 1:100-1:500 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VILIP3 hpcal1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VILIP3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
