Related Product Information for anti-CDH5 antibody
CDH5(Cadherin 5), also known as VE-cadherin, is a type of cadherin. It is encoded by the human gene CDH5. Kremmidiotis et al.(1998) mapped the human CDH5 gene to 16q22.1 using somatic cell hybrid panels. Functioning as a classic cadherin by imparting to cells the ability to adhere in a homophilic manner, the protein may play an important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions. Therefore it was concluded that VE-cadherin serves the purpose of maintaining newly formed vessels.

NCBI Description

This gene is a classical cadherin from the cadherin superfamily and is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 that is involved in loss of heterozygosity events in breast and prostate cancer. The encoded protein is a calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion glycoprotein comprised of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region and a highly conserved cytoplasmic tail. Functioning as a classic cadherin by imparting to cells the ability to adhere in a homophilic manner, the protein may play an important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions. An alternative splice variant has been described but its full length sequence has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

CDH5: Cadherins are calcium dependent cell adhesion proteins. They preferentially interact with themselves in a homophilic manner in connecting cells; cadherins may thus contribute to the sorting of heterogeneous cell types. This cadherin may play a important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions. It associates with alpha-catenin forming a link to the cytoskeleton. Acts in concert with KRIT1 to establish and maintain correct endothelial cell polarity and vascular lumen. These effects are mediated by recruitment and activation of the Par polarity complex and RAP1B. Required for activation of PRKCZ and for the localization of phosphorylated PRKCZ, PARD3, TIAM1 and RAP1B to the cell junction. Interacts via cadherin 5 domain with PTPRB. Interacts with TRPC4. Interacts with KRIT1. Endothelial tissues and brain.

Product Notes

The CDH5 cdh5 (Catalog #AAA176401) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Anti-CDH5 Antibody; Anti-VE Cadherin antibody reacts with Human, Rat; Predicted: Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VE Cadherin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin. Western Blot: Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml Tested Species: Human Predicted Species: N/A Antigen retrieval: N/A Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Section): Concentration: 0.5-1ug/ml Tested Species: Human, Rat Predicted Species: Mouse Antigen retrieval: By Heat Tested Species: In-house tested species with positive results Predicted Species: Species predicted to be fit for the product based on sequence similarities. Other applications have not been tested, Optimal dilutions should be determined by end users. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the CDH5 cdh5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VE Cadherin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
