Related Product Information for anti-VCAM1/CD106 antibody
Vascular cell adhesion molecule 1, VCAM-1, is a surface glycoproteinexpressed by cytokine-activated endothelium that mediates the adhesionof monocytes and lymphocytes. VCAM-1 and integrin alpha-4-beta-1facilitate a critical cell-cell adhesion event required for survival ofendothelial and mural cells during vascularization. Studies of heartdevelopment have shown that deficiencies of VCAM and in alpha-4 integrinalso result in epicardial dissolution and subsequent myocardialthinning.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the Ig superfamily and encodes a cell surface sialoglycoprotein expressed by cytokine-activated endothelium. This type I membrane protein mediates leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion and signal transduction, and may play a role in the development of artherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis. Three alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2010]

Uniprot Description

Important in cell-cell recognition. Appears to function in leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion. Interacts with integrin alpha-4/beta-1 (ITGA4/ITGB1) on leukocytes, and mediates both adhesion and signal transduction. The VCAM1/ITGA4/ITGB1 interaction may play a pathophysiologic role both in immune responses and in leukocyte emigration to sites of inflammation.

Product Notes

The VCAM1/CD106 vcam1 (Catalog #AAA2401034) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-VCAM1/CD106 Antibody (aa349-362) reacts with Human Predicted: Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's VCAM1/CD106 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 1:64000 IHC-P: 5 ug/ml WB: 1-3 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VCAM1/CD106 vcam1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "VCAM1/CD106, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
