NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This receptor contains an extracellular TRAIL-binding domain and a transmembrane domain, but no cytoplasmic death domain. This receptor is not capable of inducing apoptosis, and is thought to function as an antagonistic receptor that protects cells from TRAIL-induced apoptosis. This gene was found to be a p53-regulated DNA damage-inducible gene. The expression of this gene was detected in many normal tissues but not in most cancer cell lines, which may explain the specific sensitivity of cancer cells to the apoptosis-inducing activity of TRAIL. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TRAIL-R3: Receptor for the cytotoxic ligand TRAIL. Lacks a cytoplasmic death domain and hence is not capable of inducing apoptosis. May protect cells against TRAIL mediated apoptosis by competing with TRAIL-R1 and R2 for binding to the ligand. Higher expression in normal tissues than in tumor cell lines. Highly expressed in peripheral blood lymphocytes, spleen, skeletal muscle, placenta, lung and heart.

Protein type: Membrane protein, GPI anchor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p21.3

Cellular Component: integral component of plasma membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: TRAIL binding; transmembrane receptor activity; tumor necrosis factor-activated receptor activity

Biological Process: immune response; inflammatory response; multicellular organism development; negative regulation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in apoptotic process; regulation of apoptosis; regulation of cell proliferation; response to lipopolysaccharide; signal transduction; tumor necrosis factor-mediated signaling pathway

Product Notes

The TNFRSF10C tnfrsf10c (Catalog #AAA2027613) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Polyclonal Antibody to Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily, Member 10C (TNFRSF10C) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Formalin/Paraffin, ELISA (EIA). Western blotting: 0.2-2ug/mL;1:250-2500 Immunohistochemistry: 5-20ug/mL;1:25-100 Immunocytochemistry: 5-20ug/mL;1:25-100 Optimal working dilutions must be determined by end user. . Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TNFRSF10C tnfrsf10c for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
