Related Product Information for anti-TNFSF14 antibody
Herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM), a type I transmembrane protein, is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily. HVEM mediates the entry of herpes simplex virus (HSV) 1 and 2 into T lymphocytes by serving as an attachment site for the HSV envelope glycoprotein D (gD). HVEM also binds two cellular ligands, secreted lymphotoxin alpha and light. LIGHT is a member of the TNF superfamily produced by activated T cells. This type II transmembrane protein competes with HSV glycoprotein D for binding to HVEM. LIGHT is closely related in sequence to lymphotoxin beta (LTbeta) and can also bind to the LTbeta receptor. LIGHT is also known to induce apoptosis and suppress tumor formation. The gene encoding LIGHT maps to human chromosome 19p13.3.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This protein is a ligand for TNFRSF14, which is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, and which is also known as a herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM). This protein may function as a costimulatory factor for the activation of lymphoid cells and as a deterrent to infection by herpesvirus. This protein has been shown to stimulate the proliferation of T cells, and trigger apoptosis of various tumor cells. This protein is also reported to prevent tumor necrosis factor alpha mediated apoptosis in primary hepatocyte. Two alternatively spliced transcript variant encoding distinct isoforms have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TNFSF14: Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF3/LTBR. Binding to the decoy receptor TNFRSF6B modulates its effects. Activates NFKB, stimulates the proliferation of T-cells, and inhibits growth of the adenocarcinoma HT-29. Acts as a receptor for Herpes simplex virus. Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cytokine; Inhibitor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 19p13.3

Cellular Component: extracellular space; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; integral to membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; caspase inhibitor activity; cytokine activity; tumor necrosis factor receptor binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: release of cytoplasmic sequestered NF-kappaB; T cell proliferation; T cell activation; apoptosis; T cell costimulation; T cell homeostasis; immune response; negative regulation of caspase activity; signal transduction; positive regulation of myoblast differentiation

Product Notes

The TNFSF14 tnfsf14 (Catalog #AAA3007175) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TNFSF14 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TNFSF14 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TNFSF14 tnfsf14 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TNFSF14, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
