NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes an intracellular monovalent cation channel that functions in maintenance of intracellular calcium release. Mutations in this gene may be associated with autosomal recessive osteogenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2012]
Uniprot Description
Function: Monovalent cation channel required for maintenance of rapid intracellular calcium release. May act as a potassium counter-ion channel that functions in synchronization with calcium release from intracellular stores
By similarity.
Subunit structure: Homotrimer
By similarity.
Subcellular location: Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein
By similarity.
Domain: The second transmembrane domain has been proposed to cross only half of the lipid bilayer and to loop back into the cytosol, so that the domains on each side of this domain are both found on the cytosolic face of the membrane. The cytosolic loop may form an ion-conducting pore
By similarity.
Involvement in disease: Osteogenesis imperfecta 14 (OI14) [MIM:615066]: An autosomal recessive form of osteogenesis imperfecta, a connective tissue disorder characterized by low bone mass, bone fragility and susceptibility to fractures after minimal trauma. Disease severity ranges from very mild forms without fractures to intrauterine fractures and perinatal lethality. Extraskeletal manifestations, which affect a variable number of patients, are dentinogenesis imperfecta, hearing loss, and blue sclerae. OI14 is characterized by variable degrees of severity of multiple fractures and osteopenia, with normal teeth, sclerae, and hearing. Fractures first occur prenatally or by age 6 years.Note: The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Ref.9 Ref.10
Sequence similarities: Belongs to the TMEM38 family.

Product Notes
The TMEM38B tmem38b (Catalog #AAA647161) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TMEM38B, CT (Trimeric Intracellular Cation Channel Type B, TRIC-B, TRICB, Transmembrane Protein 38B, C9orf87) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TMEM38B can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TMEM38B tmem38b for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TMEM38B, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
