NCBI Description

This gene encodes an extracellular matrix protein with a spatially and temporally restricted tissue distribution. This protein is homohexameric with disulfide-linked subunits, and contains multiple EGF-like and fibronectin type-III domains. It is implicated in guidance of migrating neurons as well as axons during development, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal regeneration. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2011]

Uniprot Description

TNC: Extracellular matrix protein implicated in guidance of migrating neurons as well as axons during development, synaptic plasticity as well as neuronal regeneration. Promotes neurite outgrowth from cortical neurons grown on a monolayer of astrocytes. Ligand for integrins alpha-8/beta-1, alpha-9/beta-1, alpha-V/beta-3 and alpha-V/beta-6. Belongs to the tenascin family. 6 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The TNC tnc (Catalog #AAA9402859) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Tenascin-C Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Tenascin-C can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). Western Blot: 1:500 - 1:2000 ELISA: 1:10000 Not yet tested in other applications. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TNC tnc for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Tenascin-C, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
