Related Product Information for anti-TCP-1epsilon antibody
The protein TCP-1 (t complex polypeptide 1) is a subunit of the heterooligomeric complex CCT (chaperonin containing TCP-1) present in the eukaryotic cytosol. The CCT of eukaryotic cytosol is composed of eight different subunit species, TCP-1 alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta and theta, each encoded by a different gene. Two zeta subunits have been described: TCP-1 zeta (also designated TCP-1 zeta1) and TCP-1 zeta2. TCP-1 subunits are proposed to have independent functions in folding its in vivo substrates, the actins and tubulins. TCP-1 was first identified in the mouse as relevant for tail-less and embryonic lethal phenotypes. Sequences homologous to TCP-1 have been isolated in several other species, and the yeast TCP-1 has been shown to encode a molecular chaperone for Actin and Tubulin. TCP-1 found in mammalian cells and yeast plays an important role in the folding of cytosolic proteins.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Mutations in this gene cause hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy with spastic paraplegia (HSNSP). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 5 and 13. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2015]

Uniprot Description

CCT-epsilon: Molecular chaperone; assists the folding of proteins upon ATP hydrolysis. As part of the BBS/CCT complex may play a role in the assembly of BBSome, a complex involved in ciliogenesis regulating transports vesicles to the cilia. Known to play a role, in vitro, in the folding of actin and tubulin. Defects in CCT5 are the cause of hereditary sensory neuropathy autosomal recessive with spastic paraplegia (HSNSP). The disease is characterized by spastic paraplegia and progressive distal sensory neuropathy leading to mutilating ulcerations of the upper and lower limbs. Belongs to the TCP-1 chaperonin family.

Product Notes

The TCP-1epsilon cct5 (Catalog #AAA3006258) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TCP-1epsilon Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TCP-1epsilon can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TCP-1epsilon cct5 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TCP-1epsilon, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
