NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene product belongs to the family of candidate taste receptors that are members of the G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily. These proteins are specifically expressed in the taste receptor cells of the tongue and palate epithelia. They are organized in the genome in clusters and are genetically linked to loci that influence bitter perception in mice and humans. In functional expression studies, they respond to bitter tastants. This gene maps to the taste receptor gene cluster on chromosome 12p13. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
Uniprot Description
TAS2R13: Receptor that may play a role in the perception of bitterness and is gustducin-linked. May play a role in sensing the chemical composition of the gastrointestinal content. The activity of this receptor may stimulate alpha gustducin, mediate PLC-beta-2 activation and lead to the gating of TRPM5. Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor T2R family.
Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Receptor, GPCR; Membrane protein, integral; GPCR, T2R family
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12p13
Cellular Component: plasma membrane; integral to membrane
Molecular Function: bitter taste receptor activity; taste receptor activity
Biological Process: positive regulation of cytokinesis; G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway; detection of chemical stimulus involved in sensory perception of bitter taste

The TAS2R13, CT (TAS2R13, Taste receptor type 2 member 13, Taste receptor family B member 3) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TAS2R13 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), FLISA. WB: 1:100-500 FLISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TAS2R13 tas2r13 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TAS2R13, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
