NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the TET family of RNA-binding proteins. The encoded protein plays a role in RNA polymerase II gene transcription as a component of a distinct subset of multi-subunit transcription initiation factor TFIID complexes. Translocations involving this gene play a role in acute leukemia and extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcoma, and mutations in this gene may play a role in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, May 2012]

Uniprot Description

TAF15: RNA and ssDNA-binding protein that may play specific roles during transcription initiation at distinct promoters. Can enter the preinitiation complex together with the RNA polymerase II (Pol II). A chromosomal aberration involving TAF15/TAF2N is found in a form of extraskeletal myxoid chondrosarcomas (EMC). Translocation t(9;17)(q22;q11) with NR4A3. Belongs to the RRM TET family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: RNA-binding; Translation; Oncoprotein

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q11.1-q11.2

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; nucleolus; nucleus

Molecular Function: protein binding; DNA binding; zinc ion binding; nucleotide binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent

Disease: Chondrosarcoma, Extraskeletal Myxoid

Product Notes

The TAF15 taf15 (Catalog #AAA9215048) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 371-400. The TAF15 Antibody reacts with Human, mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TAF15 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TAF15 taf15 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TAF15, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
