Target Description: Control of transcription by RNA polymerase II involves the basal transcription machinery which is a collection of proteins. These proteins with RNA polymerase II, assemble into complexes which are modulated by transactivator proteins that bind to cis-regulatory elements located adjacent to the transcription start site. Some modulators interact directly with the basal complex, whereas others may act as bridging proteins linking transactivators to the basal transcription factors. Some of these associated factors are weakly attached while others are tightly associated with TBP in the TFIID complex. Among the latter are the TAF proteins. Different TAFs are predicted to mediate the function of distinct transcriptional activators for a variety of gene promoters and RNA polymerases. Uniprot Description

TAF12: TAFs are components of the transcription factor IID (TFIID) complex, PCAF histone acetylase complex and TBP-free TAFII complex (TFTC). TAFs components-TIIFD are essential for mediating regulation of RNA polymerase transcription. Belongs to the TAF12 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative initiation.

Protein type: Transcription initiation complex

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p35.3

Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; transcription factor TFIID complex; PCAF complex

Molecular Function: protein binding; histone acetyltransferase activity; DNA binding; protein heterodimerization activity; transcription coactivator activity; transcription factor activity; transcription factor binding

Biological Process: transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter; establishment and/or maintenance of chromatin architecture; viral reproduction; transcription initiation; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter; gene expression; positive regulation of transcription factor activity

Product Notes

The TAF12 taf12 (Catalog #AAA3224697) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The TAF12 antibody - N-terminal region reacts with Cow, Dog, Guinea Pig, Horse, Human, Mouse, Rabbit, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's TAF12 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Chromatin IP (ChIP), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TAF12 taf12 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: Synthetic peptide located within the following region: MNQFGPSALI NLSNFSSIKP EPASTPPQGS MANSTAVVKI PGTPGAGGRL. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "TAF12, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
