Related Product Information for anti-SYN3 antibody
This gene is a member of the synapsin gene family. Synapsins encode neuronal phosphoproteins which associate with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles. Family members are characterized by common protein domains, and they are implicated in synaptogenesis and the modulation of neurotransmitter release, suggesting a potential role in several neuropsychiatric diseases. The protein encoded by this gene shares the synapsin family domain model, with domains A, C, and E exhibiting the highest degree of conservation. The protein contains a unique domain J, located between domains C and E. Based on this gene's localization to 22q12.3, a possible schizophrenia susceptibility locus, and the established neurobiological roles of the synapsins, this family member may represent a candidate gene for schizophrenia. The TIMP3 gene is located within an intron of this gene and is transcribed in the opposite direction.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the synapsin gene family. Synapsins encode neuronal phosphoproteins which associate with the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicles. The TIMP3 gene is located within an intron of this gene and is transcribed in the opposite direction. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple splice variants that encode different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

Uniprot Description

SYN3: neuronal phosphoprotein that may be involved in the regulation of neurotransmitter release and synaptogenesis. Binds ATP with high affinity and ADP with a lower affinity. This is consistent with a catalytic role of the C-domain in which ADP would be dissociated by cellular ATP after bound ATP was hydrolyzed. May represent a candidate gene for schizophrenia. Alternative splicing results in six variants; however, only three isoforms have been fully described.

Protein type: Vesicle

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12.3

Cellular Component: synaptic vesicle; synaptic vesicle membrane; cell junction

Molecular Function: catalytic activity; ATP binding

Biological Process: metabolic process; neurotransmitter secretion; regulation of synaptic transmission, GABAergic

Product Notes

The SYN3 syn3 (Catalog #AAA6010786) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SYN3, ID (SYN3, Synapsin-3, Synapsin III) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SYN3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EL/EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA Dilution: ELISA: 1:1,000 Western Blot: 1:100-500 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50-100. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SYN3 syn3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SYN3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
