NCBI Description

Sulfotransferase enzymes catalyze the sulfate conjugation of many hormones, neurotransmitters, drugs, and xenobiotic compounds. These cytosolic enzymes are different in their tissue distributions and substrate specificities. The gene structure (number and length of exons) is similar among family members. This gene encodes one of two phenol sulfotransferases with thermostable enzyme activity. Multiple alternatively spliced variants that encode two isoforms have been identified for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

SULT1A1: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of catecholamines, phenolic drugs and neurotransmitters. Has also estrogen sulfotransferase activity. responsible for the sulfonation and activation of minoxidil. Is Mediates the metabolic activation of carcinogenic N- hydroxyarylamines to DNA binding products and could so participate as modulating factor of cancer risk. Belongs to the sulfotransferase 1 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Product Notes

The SULT1A1 sult1a1 (Catalog #AAA7604609) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SULT1A1 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SULT1A1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Flow Cytomwtry (FC/FACS). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SULT1A1 sult1a1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SULT1A1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
