STAT2 Antibody (N-term)
Western Blot (WB)
(STAT2 Antibody (N-term) western blot analysis in Hela cell line lysates (35ug/lane).This demonstrates the STAT2 antibody detected the STAT2 protein (arrow).)
Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
(STAT2 Antibody (N-term) immunohistochemistry analysis in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded human skin tissue followed by peroxidase conjugation of the secondary antibody and DAB staining. This data demonstrates the use of STAT2 Antibody (N-term) for immunohistochemistry. Clinical relevance has not been evaluated.)
protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT
family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated
kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to
the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. In
response to interferon (IFN), this protein forms a complex with
STAT1 and IFN regulatory factor family protein p48 (ISGF3G), in
which this protein acts as a transactivator, but lacks the ability
to bind DNA directly. Transcription adaptor P300/CBP (EP300/CREBBP)
has been shown to interact specifically with this protein, which is
thought to be involved in the process of blocking IFN-alpha
response by adenovirus. Multiple transcript variants encoding
different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by

NCBI Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the STAT protein family. In response to cytokines and growth factors, STAT family members are phosphorylated by the receptor associated kinases, and then form homo- or heterodimers that translocate to the cell nucleus where they act as transcription activators. In response to interferon (IFN), this protein forms a complex with STAT1 and IFN regulatory factor family protein p48 (ISGF3G), in which this protein acts as a transactivator, but lacks the ability to bind DNA directly. Transcription adaptor P300/CBP (EP300/CREBBP) has been shown to interact specifically with this protein, which is thought to be involved in the process of blocking IFN-alpha response by adenovirus. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]
Uniprot Description
STAT2: transcription factor of the STAT family. Phosphorylated and activated by receptor-associated kinases downstream of many cytokines and growth-factor receptors. Binds to the IFN-stimulated response element (ISRE) and to the Gas element. This multiprotein transcription factor is termed ISGF3. Two alternatively spliced isoforms have been described.
Protein type: DNA-binding; Transcription factor
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q13.3
Cellular Component: nucleoplasm; cytoplasm; plasma membrane; cytosol
Molecular Function: identical protein binding; signal transducer activity; protein binding; DNA binding; transcription factor activity
Biological Process: regulation of transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; viral reproduction; transcription, DNA-dependent; cytokine and chemokine mediated signaling pathway; JAK-STAT cascade; defense response to virus

Product Notes
The STAT2 stat2 (Catalog #AAA9211157) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The immunogen sequence is 186-215. The STAT2 Antibody (N-term) reacts with Human (Predicted Reactivity: Pig) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's STAT2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB~~1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the STAT2 stat2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "STAT2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
