HeLa whole cell lysate
Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Related Product Information for anti-Sptbn2 antibody
Mutations in spectrins are a previously unknown cause of ataxia and neurodegenerative disease that affect membrane proteins involved in glutamate signaling. Spectrin-beta IIIs have been recognized as ataxia disease genes and their mutations cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 5 (SCA5).

NCBI Description

may modulate the structural integrity of the Golgi apparatus; binds preferentially to Arp1 rather than actin to mediate the direct interaction of dynein and dynactin with vesicles [RGD, Feb 2006]

Uniprot Description

SPTBN2: Probably plays an important role in neuronal membrane skeleton. Defects in SPTBN2 are the cause of spinocerebellar ataxia type 5 (SCA5). Spinocerebellar ataxia is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of cerebellar disorders. Patients show progressive incoordination of gait and often poor coordination of hands, speech and eye movements, due to degeneration of the cerebellum with variable involvement of the brainstem and spinal cord. SCA5 is an autosomal dominant cerebellar ataxia (ADCA). It is a slowly progressive disorder with variable age at onset, ranging between 10 and 50 years. Belongs to the spectrin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Cytoskeletal

Cellular Component: spectrin; extracellular space; nuclear matrix; cell soma; apical plasma membrane; cytoplasm; cytosol; cell junction

Molecular Function: structural constituent of cytoskeleton; phospholipid binding; actin binding

Biological Process: vesicle-mediated transport; synaptic vesicle exocytosis; synaptogenesis; actin filament capping; adult behavior; multicellular organism growth; cerebellar Purkinje cell layer morphogenesis; regulation of calcium ion-dependent exocytosis; synaptic vesicle docking during exocytosis

Product Notes

The Sptbn2 sptbn2 (Catalog #AAA622101) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Spectrin Beta 3 (Beta III Spectrin, KIAA0302, Spectrin beta Chain Brain 2, Spectrin beta Non-erythrocytic 2, Spectrin Non-erythroid beta Chain 2, SPTBN2, Spinocerebellar Ataxia 5, SCA5, SCA 5) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Spectrin Beta 3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunoprecipitation (IP), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the Sptbn2 sptbn2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Spectrin Beta 3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
