NCBI Description

This gene encodes a CBL-associated protein which functions in the signaling and stimulation of insulin. Mutations in this gene may be associated with human disorders of insulin resistance. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]

Uniprot Description

SORBS1: Plays a role in tyrosine phosphorylation of CBL by linking CBL to the insulin receptor. Required for insulin- stimulated glucose transport. Involved in formation of actin stress fibers and focal adhesions. 12 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Cell adhesion; Cytoskeletal; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q23.33

Cellular Component: cell-cell adherens junction; cell-substrate adherens junction; centrosome; cytoplasm; cytosol; focal adhesion; lipid raft; nucleoplasm; nucleus; plasma membrane; stress fiber; zonula adherens

Molecular Function: actin binding; cytoskeletal protein binding; insulin receptor binding; protein binding; SH3/SH2 adaptor activity

Biological Process: cell-matrix adhesion; cellular response to insulin stimulus; focal adhesion formation; glucose transport; insulin receptor signaling pathway; muscle contraction; positive regulation of glucose import; positive regulation of glycogen biosynthetic process; positive regulation of lipid biosynthetic process; stress fiber formation

Product Notes

The SORBS1 sorbs1 (Catalog #AAA420677) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-SORBS1/ponsin (internal) Antibody reacts with Expected from sequence similarity: Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SORBS1/ponsin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 2000. Western Blot: Preliminary experiments in Human Adipose, Heart, Kidney, Liver and Muscle lysates gave no specific signal but low background (at antibody concentration up to 1ug/ml). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SORBS1 sorbs1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: SPKSEDDDSD LYSP. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SORBS1/ponsin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
