NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a transformation and shape-change sensitive actin cross-linking/gelling protein found in fibroblasts and smooth muscle. Its expression is down-regulated in many cell lines, and this down-regulation may be an early and sensitive marker for the onset of transformation. A functional role of this protein is unclear. Two transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

TAGLN: Actin cross-linking/gelling protein. Involved in calcium interactions and contractile properties of the cell that may contribute to replicative senescence. Belongs to the calponin family.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Actin-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 11q23.2

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: actin binding; protein binding

Biological Process: epithelial cell differentiation; muscle development

Product Notes

The TAGLN tagln (Catalog #AAA420744) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-SM22 Alpha/Transgelin Antibody reacts with Tested: Human, Mouse, Rat, Rabbit; Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Mouse, Rat, Dog, Cow and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SM22 Alpha/Transgelin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 8000. Western Blot: Approx 24kDa band observed in Human Placenta lysates (calculated MW of 22.6kDa according to NP_003177.2). Recommended concentration: 0.01-0.03ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the TAGLN tagln for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: MTGYGRPRQI IS. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SM22 Alpha/Transgelin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
