Preparation and Storage
May be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Related Product Information for anti-SLIRP antibody
SLIRP (SRA stem-loop interacting RNA binding protein) is expressed in normal and tumor tissues, but the majority of the endogenous SLIRP resides in the mitochondria. SLIRP may regulate mitochondrial functions and has the potential to shut down estrogen in breast cancer cells and testosterone in prostate cancer cells. SLIRP has also been shown to turn down genes involved in energy metabolism.

NCBI Description

Steroid receptor RNA activator (SRA, or SRA1; MIM 603819) is a complex RNA molecule containing multiple stable stem-loop structures that functions in coactivation of nuclear receptors. SLIRP interacts with stem-loop structure-7 of SRA (STR7) and modulates nuclear receptor transactivation (Hatchell et al., 2006 [PubMed 16762838]).[supplied by OMIM]

Uniprot Description

SLIRP: RNA-binding protein that acts as a nuclear receptor corepressor. Probably acts by binding the SRA RNA, and repressing the SRA-mediated nuclear receptor coactivation. Binds the STR7 loop of SRA RNA. Also able to repress glucocorticoid (GR), androgen (AR), thyroid (TR) and VDR-mediated transactivation.

Protein type: RNA-binding; Nuclear receptor co-regulator; Mitochondrial; Transcription, coactivator/corepressor

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 14q24.3

Cellular Component: mitochondrion; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; acrosome; nucleus; ribonucleoprotein complex

Molecular Function: nucleotide binding

Biological Process: sperm motility; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; single fertilization; spermatid development

Product Notes

The SLIRP slirp (Catalog #AAA622706) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SLIRP (SRA Stem-loop-interacting RNA-binding Protein Mitochondrial, Chromosome 14 Open Reading Frame 156, C14orf156, DC50, PD04872) reacts with Human, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SLIRP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Suitable for use in Western Blot. Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml. Band at ~12kD corresponding to SLIRP. May see additional bands above 45kD. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLIRP slirp for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLIRP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
