Related Product Information for anti-SLAIN1 antibody
SLAIN1 is a novel stem cell protein that was identified by transciptional profiling of mouse and human embryonic stem cells (ESCs) and is expressed at the stem cell and epiblast stages. Unlike its more widely expressed homolog SLAIN2, SLAIN1 was found to be expressed in the epiblast, nervous system, tailbud and somites of the developing mouse embryo later experiments suggested that SLAIN1 may play a role in the development of the nervous system as well as in the morphogenesis of several embryonic structures.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a member of the myosin-binding protein C family. Myosin-binding protein C family members are myosin-associated proteins found in the cross-bridge-bearing zone (C region) of A bands in striated muscle. The encoded protein is the slow skeletal muscle isoform of myosin-binding protein C and plays an important role in muscle contraction by recruiting muscle-type creatine kinase to myosin filaments. Mutations in this gene are associated with distal arthrogryposis type I. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

Uniprot Description

MYBPC1: Thick filament-associated protein located in the crossbridge region of vertebrate striated muscle a bands. In vitro it binds MHC, F-actin and native thin filaments, and modifies the activity of actin-activated myosin ATPase. It may modulate muscle contraction or may play a more structural role. Defects in MYBPC1 are the cause of arthrogryposis, distal, type 1B (DA1B). A form of distal arthrogryposis, a disease characterized by congenital joint contractures that mainly involve two or more distal parts of the limbs, in the absence of a primary neurological or muscle disease. Distal arthrogryposis type 1 is characterized largely by camptodactyly and clubfoot. Hypoplasia and/or absence of some interphalangeal creases is common. The shoulders and hips are less frequently affected. Defects in MYBPC1 may be a cause of autosomal recessive lethal congenital contractural syndrome (LCCS), a severe, neonatally lethal form of arthrogryposis. Belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily. MyBP family. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Actin-binding; Myosin-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 12q23.2

Cellular Component: cytosol; myofibril

Molecular Function: actin binding; protein binding; structural constituent of muscle; titin binding

Product Notes

The SLAIN1 mybpc1 (Catalog #AAA9408574) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SLAIN1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SLAIN1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SLAIN1 mybpc1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SLAIN1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
