NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
Uniprot Description
SKA2: Component of the SKA1 complex, a microtubule-binding subcomplex of the outer kinetochore that is essential for proper chromosome segregation. Required for timely anaphase onset during mitosis, when chromosomes undergo bipolar attachment on spindle microtubules leading to silencing of the spindle checkpoint. The SKA1 complex is a direct component of the kinetochore-microtubule interface and directly associates with microtubules as oligomeric assemblies. The complex facilitates the processive movement of microspheres along a microtubule in a depolymerization-coupled manner. In the complex, it is required for SKA1 localization. Belongs to the SKA2 family.
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 17q22
Cellular Component: spindle microtubule; outer kinetochore of condensed chromosome; cytosol
Molecular Function: protein binding; microtubule binding
Biological Process: mitosis; cell division; mitotic cell cycle; regulation of microtubule polymerization or depolymerization; chromosome segregation

Product Notes
The SKA2 ska2 (Catalog #AAA6010651) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SKA2, NT (SKA2, FAM33A, Spindle and kinetochore-associated protein 2, Protein FAM33A) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SKA2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). WB: 1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1:10 - 1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SKA2 ska2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SKA2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
