Related Product Information for anti-SHISA9 antibody
Cytosine-knot AMPAR modulating protein 44 (CKAMP44A) is a novel protein that was recently identified as a brain-specific type I transmembrane protein that associates with AMPA receptors in synaptic spines (1). AMPA receptors (AMPARs) mediate fast synaptic transmissions in the vertebrate central nervous system (2). AMPARs are composed of four types of subunits, named as GluR1, GluR2, Glur3, and GluR4, which combine to form tetramers (3, 4). Several AMPAR-interacting proteins have been identified that affect the receptors' subcellular localization, synaptic stabilization, and kinetics, these include transmembrane AMPAR regulatory proteins (TARPs), Sol-1 and cornichons (5-7). CKAMP44A, located on human and mouse chromosome 16, was recently identified as another AMPAR-interacting protein (l). CKAMP44A was shown to modulate short-term plasticity at some excitatory synapses. ln Xenopus Oocytes, expression of CKAMP44A reduced GluR1 and GluR2 mediated steady-state currents, but it did not affect kainite or NMDA receptor-mediated currents (1).

CKAMP44A contains an extracellular N-terminal cysteine-rich motif with eight cysteines that are highly conserved across vertebrate species. Six of these eight cysteine residues might function as stabilizers for the Cys-knot structure of the CKAMP44A (l). RT-PCR analysis from various mouse tissues RNA revealed two splice variants, CKAMP44Aa and CKAMP44Ab, which differ by only 48 bases (1). This CKAMP44A-specific antibody recognizes CKAMP44Aa. Its expression is restricted to the brain; its mRNA is present in most brain structures during embryonic and postnatal development. CKAMP44Aa is approximately a 52kDa protein (432 amino acids).

Uniprot Description

SHISA9: Regulator of short-term neuronal synaptic plasticity in the dentate gyrus. Associates with AMPA receptors (ionotropic glutamate receptors) in synaptic spines and promotes AMPA receptor desensitization at excitatory synapses. Belongs to the shisa family. SHISA9 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral

Cellular Component: cell junction; cell projection; integral to membrane; ionotropic glutamate receptor complex; membrane; plasma membrane; synapse

Molecular Function: PDZ domain binding

Biological Process: regulation of short-term neuronal synaptic plasticity

Product Notes

The SHISA9 shisa9 (Catalog #AAA540697) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SHISA9 Antibody reacts with Human, Monkey, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SHISA9 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoprecipitation (IP), Western Blot (WB). Dot Blot: 1:10,000 ELISA: 1:10,000 Western Blot: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SHISA9 shisa9 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SHISA9, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
