SEPT6/Septin 6 is a member of the septin family of GTPases. Membersof this family are required for cytokinesis. One version of pediatricacute myeloid leukemia is the result of a reciprocal translocationbetween chromosomes 11 and X, with the breakpoint associated with the genes encoding the mixed-lineage leukemia and septin 2 proteins. Thisgene encodes four transcript variants encoding three distinct isoforms.

NCBI Description

This gene is a member of the septin family of GTPases. Members of this family are required for cytokinesis. One version of pediatric acute myeloid leukemia is the result of a reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 11 and X, with the breakpoint associated with the genes encoding the mixed-lineage leukemia and septin 2 proteins. This gene encodes four transcript variants encoding three distinct isoforms. An additional transcript variant has been identified, but its biological validity has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

Filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase. Required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton. Involved in cytokinesis. May play a role in HCV RNA replication. Forms a filamentous structure with SEPT12, SEPT6, SEPT2 and probably SEPT4 at the sperm annulus which is required for the structural integrity and motility of the sperm tail during postmeiotic differentiation (PubMed:25588830).

Product Notes

The SEPT6 sept6 (Catalog #AAA2400837) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-SEPT6/Septin 6 Antibody (aa523-534) reacts with Human Predicted: Chicken, Bovine, Rabbit, Dog, Hamster, Pig, Horse, Monkey and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SEPT6/Septin 6 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). ELISA: 1:4000 IHC-P: 3.75 ug/ml WB: 0.03-1 ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SEPT6 sept6 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SEPT6/Septin 6, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
