Related Product Information for anti-SCN11A antibody
Voltage-gated sodium channels are membrane protein complexes that play a fundamental role in the rising phase of the action potential in most excitable cells. Alpha subunits, such as SCN11A, mediate voltage-dependent gating and conductance, while auxiliary beta subunits regulate the kinetic properties of the channel and facilitate membrane localization of the complex. Aberrant expression patterns or mutations of alpha subunits underlie a number of disorders. Each alpha subunit consists of 4 domains connected by 3 intracellular loops; each domain consists of 6 transmembrane segments and intra- and extracellular linkers.

Uniprot Description

SCN11A: This protein mediates the voltage-dependent sodium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a sodium-selective channel through which sodium ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. It is a tetrodotoxin-resistant sodium channel isoform. Also involved, with the contribution of the receptor tyrosine kinase NTRK2, in rapid BDNF-evoked neuronal depolarization. Belongs to the sodium channel (TC 1.A.1.10) family. Nav1.9/SCN11A subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Channel, sodium; Membrane protein, integral

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p22.2

Cellular Component: voltage-gated sodium channel complex; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: voltage-gated sodium channel activity

Biological Process: response to drug; sodium ion transport; generation of action potential; regulation of sensory perception of pain

Disease: Neuropathy, Hereditary Sensory And Autonomic, Type Vii; Episodic Pain Syndrome, Familial, 3

Product Notes

The SCN11A scn11a (Catalog #AAA2516599) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The SCN11A Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's SCN11A can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC: 1:50-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the SCN11A scn11a for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "SCN11A, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
