Related Product Information for anti-RPIA antibody
The protein encoded by this gene is an enzyme, which catalyzes the reversible conversion between ribose-5-phosphate and ribulose-5-phosphate in the pentose-phosphate pathway. This gene is highly conserved in most organisms. The enzyme plays an essential role in the carbohydrate metabolism. Mutations in this gene cause ribose 5-phosphate isomerase deficiency. A pseudogene is found on chromosome 18.

Uniprot Description

RPIA: Defects in RPIA are the cause of ribose 5-phosphate isomerase deficiency (RPID). A patient has been described with a deficiency of ribose 5-phosphate isomerase who presented with leukoencephalopathy and peripheral neuropathy. Proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the brain revealed a highly elevated level of the polyols ribitol and D-arabitol, which were subsequently also found in high concentrations in body fluids. Deficient activity of RPIA, one of the pentose phosphate pathway enzymes, has been demonstrated in fibroblasts. Belongs to the ribose 5-phosphate isomerase family.

Protein type: EC 5.3.1.6; Carbohydrate Metabolism - pentose phosphate pathway; Isomerase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 2p11.2

Cellular Component: intracellular membrane-bound organelle; cytosol

Molecular Function: monosaccharide binding; ribose-5-phosphate isomerase activity

Biological Process: pentose-phosphate shunt; carbohydrate metabolic process; pentose-phosphate shunt, non-oxidative branch; pathogenesis

Disease: Ribose 5-phosphate Isomerase Deficiency

Product Notes

The RPIA rpia (Catalog #AAA6343292) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The RPIA, ID (RPIA, RPI, Ribose-5-phosphate isomerase, Phosphoriboisomerase) (AP) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's RPIA can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:100-500 ELISA: 1:1,000 Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RPIA rpia for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "RPIA, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
