Related Product Information for anti-RASD2 antibody
Ras family proteins are molecular switches, which are mediated by extracellular signals and regulate intracellular signaling pathways, thereby controlling a plethora of biological functions such as cell growth, gene transcription, mRNA stability and translation, cytoskeleton organization, peptide trafficking and secrection. Ras proteins are also involved in synaptic plasticity, learning, and memory in the central nervous system. As a member of the RASD subfamily of the Ras-related GTP-binding protein superfamily, Rhes is predominantly expressed in the striatal region of the brain, where it reported to influence brain development and function. It is thought that the activation and expression of the Rhes gene is mediated by thyroid hormones in the brain. In humans, a lack of such hormones is known to cause cretinism. Additionally, Rhes -/- knockout mice display marked behavioral abnormalities, a gender-dependent increase in anxiety levels, and a clear deficit in motor coordination.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a Ras-related protein that enriched in striatum. The product of this gene binds to GTP and possesses intrinsic GTPase activity. The gene belongs to the Ras superfamily of small GTPases. The exact function of this gene is unknown, but most striatum-specific mRNAs characterized to date encode components of signal transduction cascades. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

RASD2: GTPase signaling protein that binds to and hydrolyzes GTP. Regulates signaling pathways involving G-proteins-coupled receptor and heterotrimeric proteins such as GNB1, GNB2 and GNB3. May be involved in selected striatal competencies, mainly locomotor activity and motor coordination. Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. RasD family.

Protein type: G protein, monomeric; G protein; G protein, monomeric, RasD

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.1

Cellular Component: plasma membrane

Molecular Function: GTPase activity; GTP binding; ubiquitin conjugating enzyme binding; G-protein beta-subunit binding

Biological Process: positive regulation of protein sumoylation; positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling cascade; synaptic transmission, dopaminergic; metabolic process; small GTPase mediated signal transduction; negative regulation of protein ubiquitination; locomotory behavior

Product Notes

The RASD2 rasd2 (Catalog #AAA6002280) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Rhes, CT (RASD2, GTP-binding Protein Rhes, Ras Homolog Enriched in Striatum, Tumor Endothelial Marker 2, TEM2) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Rhes can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500 Immunohistochemistry: 1:500. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the RASD2 rasd2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Rhes, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
