NCBI Description

This gene encodes an enzyme that is involved in the inactivation of the chemotactic factor, leukotriene B4. The encoded protein specifically catalyzes the NADP+ dependent conversion of leukotriene B4 to 12-oxo-leukotriene B4. A pseudogene of this gene is found on chromosome 1. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2009]

Uniprot Description

LTB4DH: Functions as 15-oxo-prostaglandin 13-reductase and acts on 15-oxo-PGE1, 15-oxo-PGE2 and 15-oxo-PGE2-alpha. Has no activity towards PGE1, PGE2 and PGE2-alpha. Catalyzes the conversion of leukotriene B4 into its biologically less active metabolite, 12-oxo-leukotriene B4. This is an initial and key step of metabolic inactivation of leukotriene B4. Belongs to the NADP-dependent oxidoreductase L4BD family.

Protein type: EC 1.3.1.74; EC 1.3.1.48; Oxidoreductase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q31.3

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: 15-oxoprostaglandin 13-oxidase activity; 2-alkenal reductase activity; zinc ion binding

Biological Process: leukotriene metabolic process; prostaglandin metabolic process; response to toxin

Product Notes

The PTGR1 ptgr1 (Catalog #AAA7603152) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PTGR1 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PTGR1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PTGR1 ptgr1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PTGR1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
