NCBI Description

Coagulation factor II is proteolytically cleaved to form thrombin in the first step of the coagulation cascade which ultimately results in the stemming of blood loss. F2 also plays a role in maintaining vascular integrity during development and postnatal life. Peptides derived from the C-terminus of this protein have antimicrobial activity against E. coli and P. aeruginosa. Mutations in F2 lead to various forms of thrombosis and dysprothrombinemia. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015]

Uniprot Description

Thrombin, which cleaves bonds after Arg and Lys, converts fibrinogen to fibrin and activates factors V, VII, VIII, XIII, and, in complex with thrombomodulin, protein C. Functions in blood homeostasis, inflammation and wound healing.

Product Notes

The PT f2 (Catalog #AAA4750962) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Prothrombin Rabbit pAb reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Prothrombin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP). WB: 1:500-1:2000 IP: 1:50. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PT f2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Prothrombin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
