Related Product Information for anti-PROK1 antibody
Endocrine gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG-VEGF) induces proliferation, migration and fenestration in capillary endothelialcells derived from endocrine glands. EG-VEGF possesses a HIF-1 binding site; its expression isinduced by hypoxia and restricted to the steroidogenic glands(ovary, testis, adrenal and placenta). EG-VEGF expression is often complementary to the expression of VEGF, suggesting that these moleculesfunction in a coordinatedmanner. EG-VEGFis an example of a class of highly specificmitogensthat act to regulate proliferation and differentiation of the vascular endothelium in a tissue-specific manner. EG-VEGFis expressed largely in one type of tissue and actsselectively on one type of endothelium. EG-VEGF, possiblythrough binding to a G protein-coupled receptor, resultsin the activation ofMAPK p44/42 and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase signaling pathways, leading to proliferation, migration and survival of responsive endothelialcells.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene induces proliferation, migration, and fenestration (the formation of membrane discontinuities) in capillary endothelial cells derived from endocrine glands. It has little or no effect on a variety of other endothelial and non-endothelial cell types. Its expression is restricted to the steroidogenic glands (ovary, testis, adrenal, and placenta), is induced by hypoxia, and often complementary to the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), suggesting that these molecules function in a coordinated manner. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

PROK1: Potently contracts gastrointestinal (GI) smooth muscle. Induces proliferation, migration and fenestration (the formation of membrane discontinuities) in capillary endothelial cells derived from endocrine glands. Has little or no effect on a variety of other endothelial and non-endothelial cell types. Induces proliferation and differentiation, but not migration, of enteric neural crest cells. Directly influences neuroblastoma progression by promoting the proliferation and migration of neuroblastoma cells. Positively regulates PTGS2 expression and prostaglandin synthesis. May play a role in placentation. May play a role in normal and pathological testis angiogenesis. Belongs to the AVIT (prokineticin) family.

Protein type: Secreted; Secreted, signal peptide; Cell cycle regulation

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1p21

Cellular Component: extracellular region

Molecular Function: growth factor activity

Product Notes

The PROK1 prok1 (Catalog #AAA3006803) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PROK1 Polyclonal Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PROK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB: 1:500-1:1000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PROK1 prok1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PROK1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
