Related Product Information for anti-PLB antibody
Phospholamban (PLB) is a 52 amino acid phosphoprotein which regulates the calcium pump of cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). PLB is an oligomer of five identical subunits each having a cytoplasmic and transmembrane domain. The cytoplasmic domain (residues 1 to 25) contains the phosphorylation sites and is highly basic and readily cleaved by proteases; whereas the transmembrane domain (residues 25 to 52) is mostly hydrophobic, protease resistant and stabilizes the pentamer.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is found as a pentamer and is a major substrate for the cAMP-dependent protein kinase in cardiac muscle. The encoded protein is an inhibitor of cardiac muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase in the unphosphorylated state, but inhibition is relieved upon phosphorylation of the protein. The subsequent activation of the Ca(2+) pump leads to enhanced muscle relaxation rates, thereby contributing to the inotropic response elicited in heart by beta-agonists. The encoded protein is a key regulator of cardiac diastolic function. Mutations in this gene are a cause of inherited human dilated cardiomyopathy with refractory congestive heart failure. Uniprot Description

PLB: a heart protein postulated to regulate the activity of the calcium pump of cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum. A major substrate for the cAMP-dependent protein kinase. An inhibitor of cardiac muscle sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca(2+)-ATPase in the unphosphorylated state, but inhibition is relieved upon phosphorylation. The subsequent activation of the Ca(2+) pump leads to enhanced muscle relaxation rates, thereby contributing to the inotropic response elicited in heart by beta-agonists. A key regulator of cardiac diastolic function. Mutations are a cause of inherited human dilated cardiomyopathy with refractory congestive heart failure.

Product Notes

The PLB pln (Catalog #AAA6334662) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PLB, Phosphorylated (T17) (PLN, PLB, Cardiac phospholamban) (PE) reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PLB can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Dot Blot (DB). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLB pln for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PLB, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
