PLA2G3 Antibody, GIII-SPLA2 Antibody, Phospholipase A2, group III Antibody, SPLA2-III Antibody, GIII sPLA2 Antibody, SPLA2III Antibody Description: Human group III secreted phospholipase A2 belongs to a superfamily of intracellular and secreted enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of glycerophospholipids at the sn-2 position to release fatty acids and lysophospholipids. Group III PLA2 enzymes were originally identified in invertebrates such as bees and scorpions. Human group III sPLA2 has been shown to be a calcium dependent enzyme.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the secreted phospholipase A2 family, whose members include the bee venom enzyme. The encoded enzyme functions in lipid metabolism and catalyzes the calcium-dependent hydrolysis of the sn-2 acyl bond of phospholipids to release arachidonic acid and lysophospholipids. This enzyme acts as a negative regulator of ciliogenesis, and may play a role in cancer development by stimulating tumor cell growth and angiogenesis. This gene is associated with oxidative stress, and polymorphisms in this gene are linked to risk for Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]

Uniprot Description

PLA2G3: PA2 catalyzes the calcium-dependent hydrolysis of the 2- acyl groups in 3-sn-phosphoglycerides. Shows an 11-fold preference for phosphatidylglycerol over phosphatidylcholine (PC). Preferential cleavage: 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl- phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) > 1-palmitoyl-2-linoleoyl-PC > 1- palmitoyl-2-arachidonoyl-PC > 1-palmitoyl-2-arachidonoyl-PE. Plays a role in ciliogenesis. Belongs to the phospholipase A2 family.

Protein type: Lipid Metabolism - glycerophospholipid; Lipid Metabolism - arachidonic acid; Lipid Metabolism - linoleic acid; Lipid Metabolism - ether lipid; Lipid Metabolism - alpha-linolenic acid; EC 3.1.1.4; Phospholipase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q12.2

Cellular Component: centriole; extracellular region; extracellular space; mast cell granule; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: calcium-dependent phospholipase A2 activity; metal ion binding

Biological Process: acrosome formation; glycerophospholipid biosynthetic process; lipid catabolic process; lipoxygenase pathway; mast cell degranulation; phospholipid metabolic process; sperm axoneme assembly

Product Notes

The PLA2G3 pla2g3 (Catalog #AAA249979) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-PLA2G3 Antibody (Internal) IHC-plus reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PLA2G3 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunohistochemistry (IHC) Paraffin, Western Blot (WB). IHC-P (10 ug/ml) WB (1:500 - 1:3000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PLA2G3 pla2g3 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PLA2G3, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
