NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
The product of this gene, which is well-conserved, is encoded by the same bicistronic transcript that encodes phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis, class Y, but the two proteins are unrelated. This gene represents the protein encoded by the upstream open reading frame, while the protein encoded by the downstream open reading frame is represented by GeneID:84992. Uniprot Description
PIGY: Component of the GPI-GlcNAc transferase (GPI-GnT) complex in the endoplasmic reticulum, a complex that catalyzes transfer of GlcNAc from UDP-GlcNAc to an acceptor phosphatidylinositol, the first step in the production of GPI-anchors for cell surface proteins. May act by regulating the catalytic subunit PIGA. Belongs to the PREY family.
Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Endoplasmic reticulum; Membrane protein, integral; Mitochondrial
Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 4q22.1
Cellular Component: glycosylphosphatidylinositol-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase (GPI-GnT) complex; endoplasmic reticulum membrane; integral to membrane; plasma membrane
Biological Process: GPI anchor biosynthetic process

Product Notes
The PIGY pyurf (Catalog #AAA151115) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PIG-Y Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PIG-Y can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). PIG-Y antibody can be used for detection of PIG-Y by Western blot at 2 mug/mL. Despite its predicted molecular weight, PIG-Y often migrates at 28-30 kDa in SDS-PAGE. Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry starting at 2.5 mug/mL. For immunofluorescence start at 20 mug/mL. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PIGY pyurf for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PIG-Y, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
