Related Product Information for anti-PIEZO1 antibody
Pore-forming subunit of a mechanosensitive non-specific cation channel (PubMed:23479567, PubMed:23695678). Generates currents characterized by a linear current-voltage relationship that are sensitive to ruthenium red and gadolinium. Plays a key role in epithelial cell adhesion by maintaining integrin activation through R-Ras recruitment to the ER, most probably in its activated state, and subsequent stimulation of calpain signaling (PubMed:20016066). In the kidney, may contribute to the detection of intraluminal pressure changes and to urine flow sensing. Acts as shear-stress sensor that promotes endothelial cell organization and alignment in the direction of blood flow through calpain activation (PubMed:25119035). Plays a key role in blood vessel formation and vascular structure in both development and adult physiology (By similarity).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a mechanically-activated ion channel that links mechanical forces to biological signals. The encoded protein contains 36 transmembrane domains and functions as a homotetramer. Defects in this gene have been associated with dehydrated hereditary stomatocytosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2015]

Uniprot Description

PIEZO1: Component of mechanosensitive channel required for the mechanosensitive currents. Plays a key role in epithelial cell adhesion by maintaining integrin activation through R-Ras recruitment to the ER, most probably in its activated state, and subsequent stimulation of calpain signaling. Belongs to the PIEZO family.

Protein type: Membrane protein, multi-pass; Membrane protein, integral; Endoplasmic reticulum

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 16q24.3

Cellular Component: endoplasmic reticulum; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: cation channel activity

Biological Process: cation transport; positive regulation of cell-cell adhesion mediated by integrin; positive regulation of integrin activation

Disease: Dehydrated Hereditary Stomatocytosis With Or Without Pseudohyperkalemia And/or Perinatal Edema; Lymphedema, Hereditary, Iii

Product Notes

The PIEZO1 piezo1 (Catalog #AAA7044586) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PIEZO1 Antibody reacts with Human and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PIEZO1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). IHC:1:20-1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PIEZO1 piezo1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PIEZO1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
