Related Product Information for anti-PICK1 antibody
Protein interacting with C kinase 1 (PICK1) is a PDZ-domain containing protein that is located in the perinuclear region and is phosphorylated in response to PKC activation. PKC , which is essential for the regulation of proliferation and differentiation in numerous cell types, contains within its catalytic region a PDZ-binding domain that is absent from other PKC isoforms. Mutation of the PICK1 PDZ domain inhibits the binding of PICK1 to PKC . PICK1 also interacts with the carboxy terminus of a-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-isoxazole-4-propionic acid (AMPA) receptor, a neurotransmitter receptor located at excitatory synapses, suggesting that PICK1 plays a role in the modulation of synaptic transmission by targeting and anchoring AMPA to specific synapses.

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene contains a PDZ domain, through which it interacts with protein kinase C, alpha (PRKCA). This protein may function as an adaptor that binds to and organizes the subcellular localization of a variety of membrane proteins. It has been shown to interact with multiple glutamate receptor subtypes, monoamine plasma membrane transporters, as well as non-voltage gated sodium channels, and may target PRKCA to these membrane proteins and thus regulate their distribution and function. This protein has also been found to act as an anchoring protein that specifically targets PRKCA to mitochondria in a ligand-specific manner. Three transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PICK1: Probable adapter protein that bind to and organize the subcellular localization of a variety of membrane proteins containing some PDZ recognition sequence. Involved in the clustering of various receptors, possibly by acting at the receptor internalization level. Plays a role in synaptic plasticity by regulating the trafficking and internalization of AMPA receptors. May be regulated upon PRKCA activation. May regulate heteromeric ASIC1/ASIC3 channel.

Product Notes

The PICK1 pick1 (Catalog #AAA9408250) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PICK1 Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PICK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunofluorescence (IF). Western blotting: 1:500 - 1:2000 Immunohistochemistry: 1:50 - 1:200 Immunofluorescence: 1:50 - 1:200. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PICK1 pick1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PICK1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
