NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP possesses an extracellular region, a single transmembrane region, and a single intracellular catalytic domain, and thus represents a receptor-type PTP. The catalytic domain of this PTP is most closely related to PTPRN/IA-2beta. This PTP and PTPRN are both found to be major autoantigens associated with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Three alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene, which encode distinct proteins, have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PTPRN2: Implicated in development of nervous system and pancreatic endocrine cells. Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Receptor class 8 subfamily. 3 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: EC 3.1.3.48; Membrane protein, integral; Receptor protein phosphatase, tyrosine; Motility/polarity/chemotaxis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7q36

Cellular Component: integral to plasma membrane; endoplasmic reticulum lumen; terminal button; receptor complex; secretory granule

Molecular Function: transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase activity

Biological Process: protein amino acid dephosphorylation

Product Notes

The PTPRN2 ptprn2 (Catalog #AAA821246) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-Phogrin Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Phogrin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). WB (1/500 - 1/1000). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PTPRN2 ptprn2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Phogrin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
