Biological Significance
Phosducin-like protein is a putative modulator of heterotrimeric G proteins. The protein shares extensive amino acid sequence homology with phosducin, a phosphoprotein expressed in retina and pineal gland. Both phosducin-like protein and phosphoducin have been shown to regulate G-protein signaling by binding to the beta-gamma subunits of G proteins.
Cross-Reactivity
Human, Mouse
Immunogen
PHLP antibody was raised in rabbit using a recombinant protein fragment contain a sequence corresponding to a region within amino acids 1 and 204  of PHLP
Preparation and Storage
Store at 4 degree C for short term storage. Aliquot and store at -20 degree C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

NCBI Description

Phosducin-like protein is a putative modulator of heterotrimeric G proteins. The protein shares extensive amino acid sequence homology with phosducin, a phosphoprotein expressed in retina and pineal gland. Both phosducin-like protein and phosphoducin have been shown to regulate G-protein signaling by binding to the beta-gamma subunits of G proteins. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Uniprot Description

PhLP: a member of the phosducin family of G-protein beta-gamma regulators. Shares extensive amino acid sequence homology with phosducin, a phosphoprotein expressed in retina and pineal gland. Both phosducin-like protein and phosphoducin have been shown to regulate G-protein signaling by binding to the beta-gamma subunits of G proteins. Two splice variants have been described.

Protein type: G protein regulator, misc.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 9q12-q13

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: protein binding; receptor signaling protein activity; protein complex binding

Biological Process: visual perception; protein folding; signal transduction; regulation of G-protein coupled receptor protein signaling pathway

Product Notes

The PHLP pdcl (Catalog #AAA835693) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. AAA Biotech's PHLP can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Immunofluorescence (IF), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Western Blot (WB). IF:1:100-1:500 ICC:1:100-1:500 WB: 1:500-1:3000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PHLP pdcl for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PHLP, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
