Related Product Information for anti-PGP9.5 antibody
UCHL1 is a member of a gene family whose products hydrolyze small C-terminal adducts of ubiquitin to generate the ubiquitin monomer. Expression of UCHL1 is highly specific to neurons and to cells of the diffuse neuroendocrine system and their tumors. It is present in all neurons (Doran et al., 1983 [PubMed 6343558]).

NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the peptidase C12 family. This enzyme is a thiol protease that hydrolyzes a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. This gene is specifically expressed in the neurons and in cells of the diffuse neuroendocrine system. Mutations in this gene may be associated with Parkinson disease.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

UCHL1: Ubiquitin-protein hydrolase involved both in the processing of ubiquitin precursors and of ubiquitinated proteins. This enzyme is a thiol protease that recognizes and hydrolyzes a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. Also binds to free monoubiquitin and may prevent its degradation in lysosomes. The homodimer may have ATP-independent ubiquitin ligase activity. Monomer. Homodimer. Interacts with SNCA. Interacts with COPS5. Found in neuronal cell bodies and processes throughout the neocortex. Expressed in neurons and cells of the diffuse neuroendocrine system and their tumors. Weakly expressed in ovary. Down-regulated in brains from Parkinson disease and Alzheimer disease patients. Belongs to the peptidase C12 family.

Product Notes

The PGP9.5 uchl1 (Catalog #AAA6495024) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PGP9.5, NT (Ubiquitin Carboxyl-terminal Hydrolase Isozyme L1, UCH-L1, Ubiquitin Thiolesterase L1, Neuron Cytoplasmic Protein 9.5, UCHL1) (MaxLight 750) reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PGP9.5 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, FLISA, Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Applications are based on unconjugated antibody. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PGP9.5 uchl1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PGP9.5, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
