Background: PGK1 (Phosphoglycerate Kinase 1), also known as PGKA, is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the PGK1 gene. The protein encoded by this gene is a glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 1,3-diphosphoglycerate to 3-phosphoglycerate. The encoded protein may also act as a cofactor for polymerase alpha. Additionally, this protein is secreted by tumor cells where it participates in angiogenesis by functioning to reduce disulfide bonds in the serine protease, plasmin, which consequently leads to the release of the tumor blood vessel inhibitor angiostatin. The encoded protein has been identified as a moonlighting protein based on its ability to perform mechanistically distinct functions. Deficiency of the enzyme is associated with a wide range of clinical phenotypes hemolytic anemia and neurological impairment. Pseudogenes of this gene have been defined on chromosomes 19, 21 and the X chromosome.

Product Notes
The PGK1 pgk1 (Catalog #AAA177866) is an Antibody and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Anti-PGK1 Antibody reacts with Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PGK1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB). Western Blot Concentration: 0.1-0.5ug/ml. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PGK1 pgk1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PGK1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
