NCBI Description

Phosphoglycerate mutase (PGAM) catalyzes the reversible reaction of 3-phosphoglycerate (3-PGA) to 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PGA) in the glycolytic pathway. The PGAM is a dimeric enzyme containing, in different tissues, different proportions of a slow-migrating muscle (MM) isozyme, a fast-migrating brain (BB) isozyme, and a hybrid form (MB). This gene encodes muscle-specific PGAM subunit. Mutations in this gene cause muscle phosphoglycerate mutase eficiency, also known as glycogen storage disease X. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]

Uniprot Description

PGAM2: Interconversion of 3- and 2-phosphoglycerate with 2,3- bisphosphoglycerate as the primer of the reaction. Can also catalyze the reaction of EC 5.4.2.4 (synthase) and EC 3.1.3.13 (phosphatase), but with a reduced activity. Defects in PGAM2 are the cause of glycogen storage disease type 10 (GSD10). A metabolic disorder characterized by myoglobinuria, increased serum creatine kinase levels, decreased phosphoglycerate mutase activity, myalgia, muscle pain, muscle cramps and excercise intolerance. Belongs to the phosphoglycerate mutase family. BPG- dependent PGAM subfamily.

Protein type: EC 3.1.3.13; Phosphatase (non-protein); EC 5.4.2.4; EC 5.4.2.11; Carbohydrate Metabolism - glycolysis and gluconeogenesis; Isomerase

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 7p13-p12

Cellular Component: cytosol; nucleus

Molecular Function: 2,3-bisphosphoglycerate-dependent phosphoglycerate mutase activity; bisphosphoglycerate mutase activity; bisphosphoglycerate phosphatase activity; cofactor binding; phosphoglycerate mutase activity

Biological Process: dephosphorylation; gluconeogenesis; glycolysis; Notch signaling pathway; regulation of pentose-phosphate shunt; response to mercury ion; spermatogenesis; striated muscle contraction

Disease: Glycogen Storage Disease X

Product Notes

The PGAM2 pgam2 (Catalog #AAA7602579) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PGAM2 Rabbit Polyclonal reacts with Human, Mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PGAM2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PGAM2 pgam2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PGAM2, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
