NCBI and Uniprot Product Information
NCBI Description
This gene encodes a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes, which reduce hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides. The encoded protein plays an antioxidant protective role in different tissues under normal conditions and during inflammatory processes. The use of alternate transcription start sites may result in use of alternate in-frame translation start codons that generate alternate isoforms that are targeted to the mitochondrion or peroxisome/cytoplasm. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2017]
Uniprot Description
PRDX5: Reduces hydrogen peroxide and alkyl hydroperoxides with reducing equivalents provided through the thioredoxin system. Involved in intracellular redox signaling. Belongs to the peroxiredoxin 2 family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative initiation.

It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Peroxiredoxin 5 (PRDX5), Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.Precautions
