Blocks Ras-mediated inhibition of integrin activation and modulates the ERK MAP kinase cascade. Inhibits RPS6KA3 activities by retaining it in the cytoplasm (By similarity). Inhibits both TNFRSF6- and TNFRSF1A-mediated CASP8 activity and apoptosis. Regulates glucose transport by controlling both the content of SLC2A1 glucose transporters on the plasma membrane and the insulin-dependent trafficking of SLC2A4 from the cell interior to the surface.

NCBI Description

This gene encodes a death effector domain-containing protein, which is a major phosphoprotein in astrocytes, and an endogenous substrate for protein kinase C. Studies using knockout mice suggest that this protein may protect astrocytes from TNF-induced apoptosis. This protein is also overexpressed in type 2 diabetes mellitus, where it may contribute to insulin resistance in glucose uptake. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]

Uniprot Description

PEA-15: an ubiquitously expressed anti-apoptotic protein. Inhibits both Fas- and Tnfrsf1a/Tnfr1-mediated caspase-8 activity and apoptosis. Interacts with CASP8/FLICE and FADD. Regulates glucose transport by controlling both the content of GLUT1 glucose transporters on the plasma membrane and the insulin-dependent trafficking of GLUT4 from the cell interior to the surface. Most abundant in tissues such as heart, brain, muscle and adipose tissue which utilize glucose as an energy source. Lower expression in glucose-producing tissues. Higher levels of expression are found in tissues from individuals with type 2 diabetes than in controls.

Protein type: Motility/polarity/chemotaxis; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 1q21.1

Cellular Component: microtubule associated complex; cytoplasm

Molecular Function: protein binding

Biological Process: negative regulation of glucose import; apoptosis; transport; DNA damage checkpoint; carbohydrate transport; response to morphine

Product Notes

The PEA15 pea15 (Catalog #AAA9613274) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Phospho-PEA15 (Ser116) Antibody reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat Predicted Reactivity: Pig (100%), Zebrafish (92%), Bovine (100%), Horse (100%), Sheep (100%), Rabbit (100%), Dog (100%), Xenopus (100%) and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PEA15 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), Peptide ELISA (EIA). WB: 1:500-1:2000 Peptide ELISA: 1:20,000-1:40,000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PEA15 pea15 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PEA15, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
