NCBI Description

This locus encodes a subunit of ATP-dependent chromatin-remodeling complexes. The encoded protein has been identified as in integral component of complexes necessary for ligand-dependent transcriptional activation by nuclear hormone receptors. Mutations at this locus have been associated with primary clear cell renal cell carcinoma. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2012]

Uniprot Description

polybromo 1: Involved in transcriptional activation and repression of select genes by chromatin remodeling (alteration of DNA-nucleosome topology). Acts as a negative regulator of cell proliferation. Defects in PBRM1 are a cause of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). It is a heterogeneous group of sporadic or hereditary carcinoma derived from cells of the proximal renal tubular epithelium. It is subclassified into clear cell renal carcinoma (non-papillary carcinoma), papillary renal cell carcinoma, chromophobe renal cell carcinoma, collecting duct carcinoma with medullary carcinoma of the kidney, and unclassified renal cell carcinoma. 9 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Tumor suppressor; DNA-binding

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3p21

Cellular Component: kinetochore; nuclear chromosome

Molecular Function: protein binding; DNA binding; chromatin binding

Biological Process: chromatin remodeling; negative regulation of cell proliferation; mitosis; transcription, DNA-dependent; regulation of transcription, DNA-dependent; heart development; placenta development

Product Notes

The PBRM1 pbrm1 (Catalog #AAA9204951) is an Antibody produced from Rabbit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The PBRM1 Antibody (C-term) reacts with Human, mouse and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's PBRM1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Western Blot (WB), ELISA (EIA). WB~~1:2000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PBRM1 pbrm1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "PBRM1, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
