NCBI Description

The protein encoded by this gene is a high affinity calcium ion-binding protein that is structurally and functionally similar to calmodulin and troponin C. The encoded protein is thought to be involved in muscle relaxation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2015]

Uniprot Description

PVA: In muscle, parvalbumin is thought to be involved in relaxation after contraction. It binds two calcium ions. Belongs to the parvalbumin family.

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q13.1

Cellular Component: cell soma; cytosol; nucleus; protein complex; terminal button

Molecular Function: calcium ion binding; protein heterodimerization activity; protein homodimerization activity

Biological Process: cytosolic calcium ion homeostasis

Product Notes

The PVALB pvalb (Catalog #AAA420829) is an Antibody produced from Goat and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The Goat anti-Parvalbumin Antibody reacts with Tested: Human, Rat; Expected from sequence similarity: Human, Rat and may cross-react with other species as described in the data sheet. AAA Biotech's Parvalbumin can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Peptide ELISA (EIA), Western Blot (WB). Peptide ELISA: Antibody detection limit dilution 1: 32000. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the PVALB pvalb for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process. The amino acid sequence is listed below: GVDEFSTLVA ES. It is sometimes possible for the material contained within the vial of "Parvalbumin, Polyclonal Antibody" to become dispersed throughout the inside of the vial, particularly around the seal of said vial, during shipment and storage. We always suggest centrifuging these vials to consolidate all of the liquid away from the lid and to the bottom of the vial prior to opening. Please be advised that certain products may require dry ice for shipping and that, if this is the case, an additional dry ice fee may also be required.
